Email Activation

Activating your IMU email is crucial, as it will grant you access to various portals and apps. As an IMU student, you are required to use your IMU email for all digital communications, especially when representing your student identity. Your IMU email address should be treated as an official means of communication.

Additionally, all announcements from the university will be sent to your IMU email address, so it is essential to regularly check your inbox for important updates.

How to Activate Your IMU Email Address

Once the Finance and Admissions Office verify your Semester 1 payment and registration documents, you should receive a registration confirmation email. This email includes your newly created email address and a temporary login password.

When you log in for the first time, make sure to change the temporary password to one of your choices. It is best to do this at least a week before your enrolment day to activate your student email. This step is crucial for a smooth start to your journey at IMU.

To reset your password, simply follow the guidelines below:

    Sign in using your student email and the temporary password provided in your registration confirmation email

    Since this is your first login, you are required to change the password. Please ensure your new password meets the following criteria:

    • A mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols
    • Does not contain any part of your name
    • Is different from your previous password
    • Has a minimum length of 10 characters

    To reset your password, enter the following:

    • Current Password: The temporary password from your registration confirmation email
    • New Password: Your new password
    • Confirm Password: Your new password again

    Remember, you will need to reset your password every 6 months. You will receive an email reminder to change it. If you do not update your password, your account may be locked.

After successfully updating your password, you will be taken to the Microsoft 365 homepage. You can access Outlook and Microsoft Teams (web version) by clicking on the 9 dots in the upper left corner.

Wi-Fi

At IMU, we are dedicated to providing our students with a meaningful learning experience and high-quality education. Whether you are researching topics for assignments, engaging in online discussions with friends and lecturers, or staying updated on IMU’s announcements, our high-speed internet connection of 150 Mbps ensures you stay connected seamlessly.

You can access the IMU Wi-Fi networks for students under the SSIDs ‘Student@IMU’ and ‘Student_5ghz’. By using your student ID, you can connect up to three devices at once – be it your smartphone, laptop, or tablet. While the connection process may vary slightly between Android and iOS devices, our network is designed for an effortless and reliable connection.

Worry not! If you are unable to connect to Student Wi-Fi, you can alternatively connect to IMU Wi-Fi. For the password, please reach out to any IT personnel or send an email to us now.

Printing Services

IMU offers accessible and affordable printing services for students on campus, allowing you to save time and money while avoiding the hassle of printing off-campus.

    Print via Web Portal

    You can upload your documents or files to the IMU printing website using this link: IMU Printing Portal. To log in, click on Continue with IMU Login and enter your student email and password.

    Print via Student Email

    Simply send your documents or files to the following email address using your student email account: [email protected].

    Print via IMU PC

    Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P to print. Choose SecurePrint_BukitJalil from the printer list and configure your print settings before sending your print jobs.

First-Time Registration

If you are a new student or have an unregistered Student Card, follow these steps to register:

    Walk to the nearest Canon printer

    Tap your student card at the card reader attached to the printer

  • null

    Enter your username (Student ID) and your Office 365 password

  • null

    Press Login

  • null

    You will be taken to the interface after a successful login

    Tap it one more time to log back in

Note: First-time registration is only applicable to new students or unregistered student cards. If you encounter any issues during registration, please reach out to the ITS department. After successful registration, if you forget your Student Card, you can log directly into the printer interface.

Usage of IT Facilities

IMU provides IT facilities such computers, printers, and Wi-Fi to support the learning process and educational programmes especially conducted at IMU. Access to the resources is a privilege, and it is expected that all students use IT resources responsibly. This includes adhering to all relevant Malaysian laws as well as IMU policies and standards.

By adhering to these guidelines, students can ensure a safe and productive learning environment for everyone at IMU.

Conditions for IT Facilities Usage

IT facilities are to be used exclusively for academic and research-related purposes.

Authorized Use
Use only those IT resources for which you have been granted authorization and solely for their intended purpose.

Commercial Use
Using IT resources for commercial purposes is not allowed.

Disruption of Services
Any actions that disrupt the use of the IMU network, the work of other users, or a third party’s network are prohibited.

Gaming Restrictions
Accessing or playing games (both online and offline) through IT resources is not permitted.

Software Installation
Installing or downloading software from the Internet or other means onto IT resources is prohibited.

Prohibition of Illegal Activities
Any use of IT resources for illegal purposes or in support of illegal activities (including but not limited to gambling, gaming, fraud, impersonation, life-threatening activities, pornography, and other unlawful acts) is strictly prohibited.

Compliance with Laws
Use of IT resources must comply with applicable laws and respect the copyrights and intellectual property rights of others, including the legal use of copyrighted software.

Rights of IMU

  • IMU reserves the right to limit or restrict access to its IT resources for any student based on institutional priorities and financial considerations, as well as in response to evidence of policy violations
  • IMU also reserves the right to examine materials belonging to a student that are stored on or used through IT resources or transmitted via its facilities if there is reason to believe that the standards for acceptable and ethical usage are being violated.
