    Getting Settled

Offer Holders

Getting ready and going through the university application process can be daunting. You are not alone. Every student applying for university has gone through the same situation as you at one point or another. A great way to begin is to refer to these pages as you navigate the process.

About Your Offer

Once your application is approved and processed, you may receive one of these offers: a Conditional Offer or a Confirmed Offer. It is time to familiarise yourself with the terminology used in the offer letter to be able to understand the differences of these offers and respond accordingly.

Conditional Offer

A student who receives a conditional offer would be required to meet certain conditions before embarking on their studies at the University.

The condition that the student will be required to meet may be:

  • Obtain the required results as per stated in the offer letter
  • Achieving the required score in an English language test

Once you have received the result and met the conditions of your offer, please submit it to Admissions Office.

Confirmed Offer

Students receiving this type of offer have an offer of a place to study in their chosen course:

  • Also known as unconditional offer when you fulfill the Academic and English requirements of the programme of study.

Responding to the Offer

Once you have received an offer, find out what happens next here. However, before proceeding, please take note of the following important points:

Offer Received

  • Carefully review your offer letter and all accompanying documents upon receipt. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Admissions team for assistance.
  • Your offer for the programme you applied for will automatically lapse if the deadline stated in your offer is missed. If you wish to reactivate your offer, please contact IMU Admissions at admissions@imu.edu.my for further guidance.
  • Admission to the University is highly competitive, and seats are limited and subject to availability, even if you are reapplying to reactivate your offer. Therefore, it is crucial to meet the deadline specified in your offer to ensure that your place is secured.

Requirements for Non-Malaysian Students

All international students who would be undertaking full-time studies in Malaysia are required to have a Student Pass (Visa). Typically, a Student Pass is valid for one year (or part of a year), depending on the programme.

Besides having the visa, to ensure that your experience coming to Malaysia for studies runs smoothly, it is important to check all immigration requirements regularly and before travelling as immigration requirements may change from time to time.

At IMU, our team at the Student Visa Office will manage your application for Student Pass and will be able to advise you on the latest immigration requirements.

Please take note that it is the prerogative of the Malaysian Immigration Department and the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to approve or reject any visa application.
