Completion and Convocation

Graduation is a momentous occasion, marking the culmination of years of dedication, perseverance, and academic achievement. As you prepare to step into this milestone, it is essential to ensure that all necessary steps are completed smoothly. From finalising your completion requirements to confirming your convocation attendance, each step plays a crucial role in making your transition from student to graduate as seamless as possible.

This guide outlines everything you need to know, including the completion checklist, convocation invitation process, and ceremony details, so you can celebrate this significant achievement with confidence.

Terms and Conditions of Entry

Admission to the convocation ceremony is subject to the following terms:

  1. Convocation is a signature event at IMU University, celebrating our students’ academic achievements alongside their family, friends, and the University community. Every graduands deserves a safe, memorable, and enjoyable experience during this milestone occasion. To uphold the spirit of this celebration, all graduands and guests are expected to honour the traditions and protocols of the ceremony, ensuring an atmosphere that is welcoming, inclusive, and celebratory.

 

  1. At IMU University, wristbands serve as entry tickets to the Auditorium for the convocation ceremony. Guests are required to present both the wristband and the associated booking confirmation upon entry. Admission may be denied if the authenticity or validity of either is in question. Guests must retain their wristbands at all times throughout the event.

 

  1. Graduands who arrive late may not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

 

  1. Guests who arrive late may not be admitted into the ceremony.

 

  1. Graduands and Guests are not permitted to take below items into the hall:
    • (Applicable only to Graduands) Bags: Please do not bring your bags into the Auditorium and ensure you leave them with your Guests. Kindly note that IMU University will not be responsible for any loss or damage. It is advisable to make prior arrangements to avoid bringing bags to the ceremony.
    • Illegal substances.
    • Helium balloons, incendiary devices (flares, fireworks, and smoke bombs), confetti cannons and similar devices and materials.
    • Paint, spray paint, and similar materials.
    • Weapons of any type.
    • Banners, poles, signs, flags, and similar materials.

 

  1. Graduands and Guests may be denied entry to or removed from the convocation ceremony if IMU University staff have reasonable grounds to do so. This includes breaches of these entry conditions, violations of University policies, or instances of intoxication, influence of illicit substances, disruptive behaviour, or actions that negatively impact the experience of others at the event.

 

  1. The University reserves the right to conduct security checks on any items brought into the venue if there are reasonable grounds to do so. If you do not consent to such inspection, you may be refused entry or required to leave the venue.

 

  1. If you are found in possession of a prohibited item, the item will be confiscated.

 

  1. All Graduands and Guests must remain seated for the entire duration of the ceremony unless instructed otherwise by event staff.

 

  1. Graduands are not permitted to bring mobile phones or any other personal items onto the stage, except for required accessibility aids.

 

  1. Graduands must wear IMU University-approved academic regalia and adhere to the dress code for the ceremony. Graduands who do not comply with the dress code will be denied entry.

 

  1. Graduands and Guests must leave the Auditorium immediately after the procession exits to give way for the next session and should not linger inside the venue.

 

  1. By attending the event, you and each attendee in your group acknowledge and agree that you may be filmed, photographed, and recorded. You also grant permission to the University to use your image, likeness, and voice captured at the event in any media for any purpose, without compensation.

 

  1. Smoking is not permitted within the building and its surrounding premises.

 

  1. The IMU University, its employees, and agents are not responsible for any loss, injury, or damage, however caused, except in cases where such loss, injury, or damage is directly due to the negligence of the University, its employees, or agents.

 

  1. The IMU University, its employees, and agents reserve the right to request you to leave the venue at any time for safety reasons or immediately after the event.

 

  1. If you or your Guests are removed from the event for breaching any of these conditions of entry, no refund will be provided.

 

  1. In case of emergency, please follow all directives of venue, security personnel and staff.
